FEMA approves extension of temporary housing assistance for Maui wildfire survivors

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Maui wildfire survivors are getting an extra year of temporary housing assistance.
FEMA approved Monday the state’s request to extend the Individuals and Households Programs, which provides funds and resources to place individuals and families in homes and rentals.
The program will now be available through Feb. 10, 2026.
To receive help, call FEMA at 1-800-621-3362.
Meanwhile, Maui County approved reconstruction permits for four multi-family buildings with 24 units in Kahoma Village.
Those home were burned in the Lahaina fire.
Most of Kahoma Village, which is off Front Street and home to over 200 properties, was largely spared from the blaze.
